2024 Touchstone Energy Community Award Winner Announced
McLeod Cooperative Power Association (MCPA) is honored to award its 2024 Touchstone Energy Community Award to 2B Continued. This annual award recognizes a local non-profit or community group that had a positive impact within our service territory during the past year.
2B Continued is being recognized for its efforts to promote awareness around suicide prevention and mental health offering resources for prevention and recovery. It focuses on advocacy, education, and outreach to foster wellness and reduce stigmas surrounding mental health challenges.
This past year 2B Continued trained educators, school staff and community members through their Mental Health First Aid and QRP (Question, Persuade, Refer) programs. The organization’s efforts also included working with high school students from 16 area high schools. Other training milestones training included hosting their second annual Training Day as well as their third annual Suicide Prevention Continuing Education Conference. The total number of people impacted by all of their programs and trainings in the past year totaled 22,415.
As this year’s award winner, 2B Continued receives a $500 donation from McLeod Co-op Power. Additionally, they will contend for the statewide Touchstone Energy Community Award with the statewide winner receiving an additional donation of $2,000. The statewide award winner will be recognized at the Minnesota Rural Electric Association annual meeting in 2025.
MCPA received a total of 5 nominations for this year’s Touchstone Energy Community Award. We applaud these groups and all the others that are working tirelessly to improve their communities.
The Minnesota Touchstone Energy Cooperatives are part of a national alliance of more than 750 electric cooperatives in 46 states that adhere to the values of integrity, accountability, innovation, and commitment to the community.
