Staking Technician
Department: Engineering | Non-Union, Non-Exempt
McLeod Cooperative Power Association (MCPA) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Staking Technician. This position plays a vital role in planning and designing overhead and underground distribution facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective electric service to our members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field assessments and design electric service extensions and system improvements
- Prepare construction documentation including staking sheets, work orders, easements, permits, and drawings
- Ensure designs meet safety codes, MCPA standards, and RUS specifications
- Coordinate project activities with consumers, electricians, developers, and line crews
- Acquire rights-of-way and communicate project needs with landowners
- Support system mapping, diagrams, and engineering record maintenance
- Assist with radio dispatching of line crews and serve as a communication link during outages
- Conduct periodic inspections of overhead distribution facilities
Qualifications:
Background in staking and GIS preferred
High school diploma required
Two-year technical degree preferred
Four or more years of related electrical or technical experience preferred
